ArcelorMittal in Ghent has 2 blast furnaces which are the heart of their production The blast furnaces operate for 20 to 25 years, after which the refractory lining must be renewed. Today it is the turn of blast furnace B to undergo such an operation.
For this greenfield project, Boccard carried out the entire project with a “global contractor” approach, thus integrating civil engineering, clean rooms, as well as all production units.
This company turned to Boccard for the piping package for its new microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) plant.
The EPC contract includes the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the boiler island, the water/steam cycle including the turbine and its utilities, as well as the high and low voltage electrical equipment and control of the unit.
Boccard conceived a system that allows the continuous processing of the vegetable protein, a highly viscous material. The plant is now operating without production interruption, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
